About Midtbyen
Trondheim city center is charming and vibrant, made up of more than 30.000 young students contributing to the city pulse. Midtbyen offer a wide array of sights and attractions that suits every visit. Enjoy the historical atmosphere in the center of the city with ‘Nidarosdomen’, built in a gothic style in the 1070s, where the oldest part of the building is from the 1100s and still exists today. Midtbyen offers many popular museums, with exhibitions from history to pop culture. Only a short ride on the city’s cable car, the popular recreational area ‘Bymarka’ is located. This is the perfect spot for outside activities such as walking, jogging or trekking. Trondheim central is also known for the shopping opportunities with small unique boutiques. This is also the place for visitors to try local specialties, as many of the restaurants have preserved the traditional flavours and ingredients.
Midtbyen Geography
The central part of Trondheim is located by the river Nidelven that runs through the city center. Midtbyen is home to around 45,000 people and the most famous attractions and historical sights of Trondheim. It also comprises ‘Byåsen’, ‘Ila Tempe’, ‘Elgeseter’, ‘Stavne’ and ‘Trolla’. Trondheim complete borough is the third largest in Norway counting on inhabitants.
