This area is a vibrant commercial and business hub of Trondheim city. Heimdal is home to the key railway station, many of the leading enterprises and a large shopping mail, City Syd. The shopping mall is a popular destination not only for locals, visitors from surrounding countrysides and neighbouring countries come to shop and eat here. Heimdal is considered to be a city within the city as it is extremely self-sufficient and has a wide offer of services. Heimdal Church is a parish church, meaning that it functions as the center for community activities. The beautiful white concrete building was made in a modern style in the 1960s by the architect Herman Semmelmann.

Heimdal Geography

This area of Trondheim covers the western and southwestern parts of the municipality, home to approximately 30,800 inhabitants. Heimdal has a village area with the same name, located in the southeast part of the borough. The area is located around Heimdal Rail Station. Today, the western part of Heimdal consists of the rural areas Byneset and Tillerbyen in the east. Heimdal is an important commercial and transportation point with connections to Sweden and Oslo.
